The band enjoys many devoted fans and had huge commercial success.... starting from the early 1970s until breaking up in 1981.
Walter Becker and Donald Fagan reunited in 1993 and have toured together until Becker died on September 3, 2017, leaving Fagan as the the only official member of the group.
That is not to mention, Denny Dias who was a founding member of Steely Dan, when the band first started up.

There was a huge cult following when the group disbanded in '81.

Steely Dan  is well know for their obsessive perfection in the recording studio.
It took well over a year to record Gaucho in 1980.
They hired at least 42 studio musicians and 11 engineers before they completes it.

They laid low for over well over a decade..... then they produced a new album...Two Against Nature... that earned them a Grammy Award For Best Album Of The Year 1993.

They have sold well over 40 million albums to date and were inducted into.....
The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in March of 2001.
